Doing What You Love

I went to a lecture at the 92Y yesterday put on by Dorothy Hamiliton, the founder of FCI. She moderated the discussion for Tom Colicchio, Dan Barber, Andres Soltner and Jacques Torres. It was pretty cool to be in the same room as four really famous chefs! I wanted to take pictures but photography wasn't allowed. They each took turns talking about their careers, how they got started in the food world and why they wanted to be a chef. It was very motivational and entertaining to hear about their struggles early on in their careers. There was also a great slideshow of old pictures. Lately I've been feeling a bit lost with my career and what I wanted to do in the long term. I'm still not sure but hearing these chefs talk about how much they love food and making people happy with food really help confirm I made the correct choice switching careers. I'm happiest cooking and being immersed in this food world, so no matter where I end up, I know it will work out because I'm doing what I love. Cheesy I know, but what can I say....I'm a big cheeseball! :D

  1. I love Jacques Torres! I used to watch him on Saturday mornings make huge chocolate sculptures that would put all those Food Network Challenge contestants to shame.
