I've come to realize that I look forward to my weekends partially because I get to sleep past 5:50am but also because I let myself off the hook diet wise. I try not to overdo it but I definitely have dessert after every meal, and pretty much let myself have anything my heart desires.
So this pass weekend was the Big Apple BBQ--a huge event for NYC foodies. All the greatest BBQ masters set up shop in Madison Square Park and dish out delicious BBQ for $8 a pop. This was my second year going and it was every bit as good as I remember it.
Baker's ribs--so moist and flavorful. It came right off the bone. I definitely wished I had ordered two plates after standing in a 20 minute line.
Gibson's pulled pork. So delicious! Probably the best pulled pork I've ever had. I passed on the cole slaw--not a fan, never will be.
Unfortunately the dessert line was too long and not even the blueberry crisp with vanilla ice cream was worth the wait. So I settled on a vanilla soft serve cone from McDonald's. It satisfied my sweet tooth but I was still yearning for the blueberry crisp.
If you didn't make it out this year, mark your calendars for next June! It's the closest New Yorkers will get to really really good BBQ!
