Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins

These muffins go against my healthy lifestyle mentality as of late. But in my defense, they came from good intentions---I had to use some ripened bananas that were looking pretty sad. I dislike ripe or spotted bananas so once they hit that point, they become part of a smoothie or an ingredient in a banana recipe. I know it's strange but I prefer them a little green!

I adapted my muffins from this Epicurious recipe. Some minor adjustments were made, less sugar, mix of brown and granulated sugar, more bananas, mix of milk and semi-sweet chocolate. Somewhere during it's creation, this banana bread muffin became a banana chocolate cupcake. I view muffins as a teensy bit healthier and this is 100% dessert. At least is has bananas (fruit) and walnuts (omega-3 fatty acids, protein AND fiber!)
